Post Op Week 6 - 30 Pounds Down

So, it is week 6 of my lapband surgery and I am down 30 pounds! I am feeling great and looking forward to continuing this wonderful journey. This week has been challenging with getting a workout in 5 days because my partner had the surgery today and I have been trying to get everything all prepared so I have only exercised twice this week so far but hopefully I can get to the gym tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday. Just another weekly update...30 pounds down and more to go...

Post Op Week 5 - Still Going Good

I have made it to post op week 5 and everything is everything. I am still on the soft food stage and I think this is my last week and I can proceed to solid maybe. I don't know if I am looking forward to that now that I have become accustomed to the soft easy foods. I think I will take it slow and add in different food textures at a very slow pace. I do not want anything to get stuck! I am still going to the gym or walking my block at least 5 times a week and I think I am doing pretty good with that. The scale is still moving on the downward end and that is also a welcomed sight. Yesterday was my weigh in and the WII clocked me at 242. I think that is about 1 or 2 pounds down from last Thursday. Anyway, that is my story for this week...

My FIrst Fill

Hello to All - I just wanted to pop in and give a quick update on my first fill. It was quite uneventful and that is just the way I like it. I was amazed when he scheduled me so soon for a fill but glad at the same time I guess. Anyways, I have an 11 cc band and yesterday he put in 6 cc's. I am currently on liquids but I do believe I can tell the difference. I won't be sure until I start back on soft foods tomorrow or Thursday. Anyway, that's my fill story and I will give my weekly update on Thursday.

Post Op Week 4

Happy Friday to all! It is post op week 4 and all is the same and everything is going pretty good. I think I miscalculated my weight loss on my last post. It should have been 24 pounds total lost instead of 26. Yesterday when I got on the WII it should 1.5 pounds lost but that put me at 27 pounds total so miscalculation last week. It all good though, I will take any weight loss. I am still trying to make the gym or I will do the 2 mile trek around my neighborhood. My adventure will be tomorrow when I go back to "The Mountain". I used to walk the 5 miles around Stone Mountain back when I was doing the weight watchers thing but I kinda got out of my rhythm in many ways and I haven't been in awhile. This will be my test on how well I can get back at it. I feel like I am not giving my all when I exercise but I also feel like I am super tired when I am done. I am satisfied with my workout but I have got to get better. I hope all is well with everyone and I will be back soon...

Post-Op Week 3 - All is well

Today is October 29, 2009 and I have made it through to post op week 3. All is well...it has been 3 weeks of liquid and I am so excited about moving on to the soft/mushy stage of the food list. I have continued my exercises and its getting better. I am still not a fan of the gym but I am going. I am trying to make sure that I exercise at least 5 times a week for 30 minutes or more and I have done that so far. Today I weighed in at home on the WII and I am now at 244.5 and that is a total weight loss of 26 lbs since my pre op appt Oct. 05, 2009 and I am happy about that. I guess that is it for now. I hope to post pictures soon. Until then...

20 Pounds Down - 2nd Week Post Op

This is my 2 week post op update and I am a little late. After my follow up appt with the surgeon he told me to get to exercising. Well, I have been going to the gym and once I get started, it's not so bad. Oh, did I say I hate exercising. I don't hate it so much that I won't do it but I don't push myself to go beyond whatever minutes I input on the treadmill. If I put 30 minutes that's what it is and I don't go any further. I hope to get better. I am still on liquids! My doctor requires 3 weeks of liquids after surgery and then 3 weeks of mushies/soft foods before moving on to solids. This liquid stage has been a task at times because you just get tired of the same old drinks. I am so over protein shakes but I endure and try to press on. Today I tried butternut squash soup for the first time in my life and it was quite enjoyable. It is a soup that I had not seen before in a box. I think it is by Campbell's not sure though. But it was pretty tasty. I saw online where people that eat butternut squash soup sprinkle a little cinnamon on top and I tried that as well. Tasty. So, I think that is it for now. I go back to work on Monday and I must say that I am very ready. I am not a person that enjoys sitting home all day. Have a great week.

1 Week Post Op

Today I had my follow up with the surgeon and all went well. I have lost a total of 13 pounds since October 6th which is when I started the pre op liquid diet. I am happy about that and the doctor told me I could start to do some exercise. I am still sore at the port site and I am now having some gas pains but not too bad. The walking should really help with the gas that I am having. All in all, I am feeling pretty good. I am still on full liquids for another week or so and then on to food phase 2. Also, can you believe that he has scheduled me for my first fill. I have appt on 11/09 to have a fill and wow, I did not expect that to happen today. Can you say aggressive!
